First Sunday in Fiesole

Today we all were greeted by a bright and sunny (and hot!!) Florentine morning.
What better way to spend our first Sunday in Toscana than a day trip to the hilltop town of Fiesole! We took a city bus in the morning (with real Italians around!), we said 'grazie' to the bus driver before arrive at the beautiful town square. Once there, and after a good Italian espresso break, we walked up to the hill and... we saw probably the most beautiful view of Florence available! Several pictures later (students could not stop!) we visited the Convento di San Francesco to see this beautiful church from the 14 century. Then, we had a picnic with panini, tea, and cookies in the park next to the church. We enjoyed games like Frisbee, futbol and even a good group round of two truths and a lie mixed with a few rounds of rock, paper scrissors and lounging in the shade.

After our bus ride on the way back we got ready for dinner and for the soccer game! Students were very excited, and after a good lasagna, pasta con pesto, salad, and cous cous we were ready to go in our beautiful Azzurri T-shirts and with our faces painted with the Italian flag! Unfortunately tonight our Abbey Road students in Spain were happier than us, (Italy lost 4-0!) but it was great to see a soccer game of this importance (it was the Euro Cup!) with our fellow Italians!

Tomorrow is going to be our students' first day of class. And we will have more Florentine adventures to tell!

Buona notte from Firenze!
