Dear Florence Parents, Friends and Family,
Greetings from sunny Florence! The staff are so pleased as am I to have all the students here safe and sound. Everyone arrived on time on Friday and after they were greeted in our Residence, each student enjoyed a buffet lunch with fresh fruit salad, green salad, paninis and beverages before having some time to rest and unpack. Then, we enjoyed a group dinner in the Pizzale del Mercato Centrale after which we gave the students a walking tour of the main plazas in the city center and took them for Gelato.
Saturday morning was our Program Orientation. During this very important first meeting, we covered the program rules and safety procedures, practical information about life in Florence, passed out Cell Phones, gave tips on navigating our neighborhood and even talked about ways to stay hydrated and cool during these very hot first days.
This afternoon brought with it the option to visit the San Lorenzo Markets. Everyone is smiling an excited, enjoying all that Florence has to offer and we are very impressed at how quickly everyone is acclimating to life abroad. Tomorrow (Sunday) is our first day trip to the hilltop town of Fiesole. Tomorrow evening, we are very fortunate to have the opportunity to watch the European Final Championship soccer game between Italy and Spain; What an incredible way to see Italy united our first weekend!
